Techniques - Linocut Printing
Linocut is a raised printing technique where the carved-out areas do not print. Begin by transferring your design onto the lino surface using a pencil, marker, or carbon paper. Remember that the final print will appear reversed, especially important when working with text.
Carefully carve out the design by cutting grooves around the areas to be removed, then work inward to avoid damaging the pattern. Always cut away from your body for safety. Once carving is complete, clean the block using warm soapy water or alcohol-based solution and let it dry.
Apply the Aqua-Lino colour evenly using a lino roller on a smooth surface such as glass. Roll the ink onto the printing block, place printing paper over it, and apply even pressure using a clean roller. Gently lift the paper and allow the print to dry.
